A sensitive full restoration of a Grade II listed Georgian terrace in Hampstead, paired with a contemporary two-storey rear extension. We delivered a respectful return to period detail at the front, with a confidently modern living wing behind it.
Working inside a Grade II listed Georgian shell on a tight North London street, the project had to satisfy heritage officers, the conservation area panel and a young family with a clear contemporary brief. Structural stability of the front parapet, party wall agreements and an unexpected basement water table all needed to be solved before the rear extension could even start.
We programmed the heritage restoration and modern extension as two parallel work streams under a single site management team. Period craftsmen handled the plaster, joinery and stucco at the front, while a separate steel and zinc team built the rear wing. The result is a home that reads as period from the street and as contemporary architecture from the garden, delivered on programme to a Private client.
